Unexpected Car Wash.

( 02/07/2009 )

Rock and roll legend Keith Moon allegedly did it in a Rolls Royce, Oasis paid tribute on their third album cover, and the Top Gear boys paid their own homage to the myth at Chipping Norton Lido.

But for one driver in Australia, motoring into a swimming pool in the middle of the night wasn't an act of rebellion or a tribute to 'Moon the Loon'.

The allegedly inebriated man lost control of his car on a hill, before sailing through the backyard fence of a house and landing in its swimming pool, just yards from the room where eight-year-old triplets were sleeping.

Homeowner Don Robins said he was woken up by a terrific bang, but was confused when he looked out the front of the house and could not see anything.

His son Paul then came running to say that there was a car in the pool, and the men ran outside to find it still floating.

Paul and a neighbour jumped in to free the trapped the 27-year-old driver.

Don told the West Australian: "We count ourselves very lucky.

"He seems to have landed clearly straight into the pool, which probably was good for him as well as very good for us because there appears to be minimal damage."

Police have charge the driver with drink driving, dangerous driving and driving without a licence.

No one was injured in the incident.
