Record number of Driving Offences in Shortest Time.

Most people would be disappointed enough to be pulled up for breaking a single traffic law, but one Italian driver allegedly managed to shatter 15 in just 11 minutes.

The unnamed 47-year-old Zurich resident kicked off his spree - which is said to have topped the Swiss record books for bad driving - by zooming past an unmarked police car at around 100mph in a 60mph zone.

Continuing his road rampage under heavy rain, he then broke three more rules by driving too close to other cars and weaving over the road, driving too close to the kerb and crossing the central white line.

On something of a roll, the driver clocked up the next three offences by failing to stop for police sirens, ignoring a road block, and refusing to allow red traffic lights to slow him down.

And he kept on ticking off the offences as he hit the motorway; speeding through a section of roadworks which resulted in charges for endangerment to life, reckless driving, and driving on the hard shoulder.

After finally being stopped by another roadblock, the wayward motorist was booked for another four offences.

These comprised driving under the influence of drugs, failing to drive with due care and attention, driving without an MOT and using his phone while at the wheel.

Unsurprisingly, it could all add up to a significant ban from the roads.

"This character will be getting his driving licence back around the time Halley's Comet makes its next appearance," said a St Gallen Police spokesman.

Taken literally, this would mean the driver is not likely to get behind the wheel again until 2061 - the year the prodigal comet is next due to pass near Earth.
